M1A6 Abrams Tank - 2050 AD

The M1A6 is now complete! I envisioned this as a future (2050) alternative to the Abrams X or any other new chassis. As my backstory goes, US Congress has denied all brand new tank developments since the government has run out of money 3 more times since the 2010s. Instead, incremental improvements are made to existing hardware. Luckily, new material composites and manufacturing techniques allow for lighter yet more durable vehicles even when using older blueprints from the 1970s.

Featuring a magnetically-assisted main cannon, an active protection/ anti drone turret (the conical thing at the back), ECM antennae, new lightweight polycarbonate tinted transparent gun shields. Also, there are extra anti-missile defense devices on the main turret and new 'expanding foam composite' (triangular alternating) plates on the flanks.

Legacy equipment includes the mine plough, 7.62mm pintle mounted MG, 50 cal Browning and another co-axial 7.62mm machine gun (it's hidden behind the enormous main gun in this shot).

Phew, that was a lot of jargon!
